All Sintrex Interns report directly to their assigned team’s Line Manager and operate within a structured mentorship driven internship programme.
The internship runs over a 12-month period and is divided into four progressive tiers each spanning approximately three months. Progression between tiers is performance based and subject to formal evaluation.
Interns are trained with the intention of permanent employment. Upon successful completion of the internship interns may be considered for placement into junior roles such as
•Services Operator
•Junior Systems Administrator
•Drawing Team Member
•Centre of Excellence Team Member
•Solutions or Operations Support roles
This internship is focused on infrastructure, operations, systems, networking, monitoring and service delivery.
Interns are expected to complete practical tasks assessments and real-world operational work throughout the programme with high performance standards.
Internship Structure
The internship follows a tier-based structure with increasing responsibility complexity and independence.
•Tier 1 Foundations
Focus on core systems virtualization basic deployments and operational fundamentals. Interns learn how Sintrex systems fit together and how daily operational work is performed.
• Tier 2 System Configuration and Management
Focus on system configuration security monitoring tooling and deeper Linux administration. Interns begin handling more complex operational tasks with reduced supervision.
• Tier 3 Networking and Infrastructure
Focus on networking principles infrastructure design troubleshooting and lab-based learning. Interns are expected to think analytically and solve problems independently.
• Tier 4 Advanced Operations and Analysis
Focus on reporting, business insight, client interaction and operational oversight. Interns demonstrate professional communication and an understanding of how technical work supports business outcomes.
Core Outputs
Interns are expected to
• Complete and pass all assigned practical tasks tests and assessments as defined by the internship programme
• Successfully progress through internship tiers based on performance and evaluation outcomes
• Integrate effectively with Sintrex teams, mentors and peers
• Execute assigned operational tasks accurately while on site or in practical phases
• Maintain accurate and up to date logbooks documentation and records
• Demonstrate continuous improvement in both technical and professional skills
Essential Requirements
• Grade 12
• Basic understanding of computer hardware networking and applications
• Basic understanding of operating systems such as Windows, Windows Server and Linux
• Exposure to basic systems administration tasks
• Willingness to work in a structured mentorship driven environment
Advantageous but not essential:
• A+ and N+ certification or similar IT related qualification
• Experience installing or configuring networks servers or workstations
• Basic Linux command line familiarity
• Exposure to virtualization concepts
• Basic understanding of IP addressing subnetting and networking principles
• SQL knowledge
• Strong aptitude for working in an IT operations environment
• Genuine interest and passion for technology
• Self-starter mindset with willingness to take initiative
• Professional conduct and respect for process and structure
• Deadline driven and accountable for assigned work
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly

Performance Evaluation
Intern performance is evaluated continuously throughout the internship.
Evaluation is based on:

• Mentor feedback and structured reviews
Progression through internship tiers is dependent on meeting defined performance criteria and demonstrating readiness for increased responsibility.
